SUFRA – A Table From Home, wherever you are!

Introducing Sufra: A Culinary Bridge Between Cultures

In Afghan culture, a Sufra is more than just a dining table — it’s a cloth lovingly laid out, where hands meet, hearts soften, and stories rise with the steam of freshly prepared food. At SUFRA, this isn’t just our name — it’s our philosophy, our history, and the foundation of a business rooted in tradition, memory, and resilience.

Founded by Najla Salehi, SUFRA represents the quiet strength of Afghan women who build futures from scratch — shaped by generations of culinary heritage and driven by love, hospitality, and entrepreneurial spirit.

We brought SUFRA to Appleton, Wisconsin, and with it, a taste of home for many. Food that smells like your grandmother’s kitchen, tastes like the first bite after a long fast, and feels like warmth in a foreign land. What began as a humble effort to share our culture has grown into something more: a thriving local business and a gathering place for a diverse and supportive community.

To our future partners and investors:
Thank you for your interest in Appleton and for considering SUFRA. Your support can help us scale a deeply meaningful venture — one that nourishes both body and spirit.

Because sometimes, home isn’t a place it’s a community that you build!

Afghan food and its history:

Afghan cuisine is as rich and diverse as its neighbours and many ethnic groups and different provinces!

Afghanistan’s location on the ancient Silk Road has influenced its cuisine, with influences from China, Persia, and India. Afghan food has evolved over centuries, with various traditional dishes that reflect the country’s diverse cultural and ethnic influences. It is a culturally diverse country with a rich kitchen representing the differences in eating habits and different cooking styles. Most of the famous provinces including the capital have at least one special dish specific for that province and known nationwide.

Welcome to a journey where every dish tells a story, every flavour carries a tradition, and every province opens its heart through food.

Every province, every plate — a chapter in the story of Afghanistan's enduring spirit and generous heart
